As part of a $4.5 million renovation, Mankato State University transformed their Student Union Ballroom into an immersive technology showcase with custom control design by ACSDI. A 360-degree wrap-around digital video system, unique lighting system including LED wash lights, theatrical lights and linear LED ceiling fixtures, and a powerful house sound system are all controlled via Crestron DigtalMedia.
The capabilities of the video system are impressive. A master computer runs software to create a single image using any or all of the projectors. A 32,640 x 1,200 pixel canvas is possible via the 17 projectors in the space. The aim was to create a “digital palette” for students and other users to create immersive datascapes for events.
The Crestron control system is controlled by touch screen or iPad with all inputs, lights, volumes and settings available. The room can also be partitioned and controlled via individual Crestron touchscreens in each section.
